Climate change is already happening and is one of the greatest social, economic, and environmental threats facing the planet. However, climate change could be thwarted by looking at the history, evidence, causes, effects and the solutions of climate change. To pick up the scientific trail of what climate change is today, we need to travel back into time, to where it all started, the year 1712. During the year of 1712, there were many historical events taking place, event such as the New York Slave Revolt (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/aia/part1/1p285.html) to Jan van der Heyden the inventor 's death; however, there was one event that would change the course of history. In the early year of 1712, a British ironmonger by the name of Thomas Newcomen invents the first widely used steam …show more content…
In figure 1A, 1B, and 1C there is an increase in Carbon Dioxide, Methane and Nitrous Oxide respectively within the last one thousand years. As it can be seen in each of the figures, there is a huge increase within the last fifty years. Similar to figure 1A , figure 2 shows the trend of carbon dioxide levels in parts per a million for the last 400,000 years. By quickly analyzing the graph, it could be seen that there are seven different cycles until recently. The current warming trend depicated in both figure 1 and 2 is of particular significance because most likely caused by humans. In the last 20 years, techonoligical innovations such Earth-orbiting satellites have enabled scientist to see the big picture, which reveals the climate change. However, critics still believe it is not real based on 5 scientific reasons. The five scientific reasons according to John Hawkins (http://townhall.com/columnists/johnhawkins/2014/02/18/5-scientific-reasons-that-global-warming-isnt-happening-n1796423/page/full) are no global warming since 1977, no evidence global warming is caused by man, artic ice is up fifty percent,
