As social disorganization has been described as the disruption and breakdown of social structures, which then results in the loss of social control in certain areas of the community; the overall goal of the social disorganization theory is to link crime rates directly to neighborhoods ecological characteristics (Bond, 2015). As it had been established at the University of Chicago during the 1920s during a time of social unrest, it became well-established during this time and has remained a prominent fixture of criminology studies for more than 75 years (Siegel, p. 185). But while, each theory of criminology focuses on the different causes of criminality, I have found this theory to be most in line with my personal beliefs as I found that…
Opposites Attract Men and women have very different styles when it comes to the art of communication. In Deborah Tannen’s essay, “But What Do You Mean?” , she describes the different communication variations between men and women. My communication style conforms very accurately to the male gender as described by Tannen because I communicate very directly, give critiques, and like to joke around.…
The reality is that most people don’t have the natural and trained ability for organizing that Don Seipel does. More than likely, your closet storage isn't living up to its potential. Here are a few tips to help turn that around: Declutter: This one may seem obvious, but it’s not always easy.…
Britt goes on to say “They have cavalier attitudes towards possessions, including family heirlooms. Everything is just another dust-catcher to them” (315). This exaggerated quote from Britt, clearly shows she does not know very many neat people. Neat people are people too and put everything that holds value to them in a place they feel is right and clearly what they think is clutter out. It is lazier to just keep stuff cluttered everywhere, which is what sloppy people…
Jordan Dunbar Deprivation of Liberty March 2, 2016 Professor: Doug Ryan The Pipeline Must Be Redirected I will be examining policy through the social disorganization theory. This theory speaks to the idea that one’s environment plays a large part in whether or not they are prone to commit crime. The idea can be simplified as being a product of one’s environment.…
Organized and disorganized are just two types of offenders in criminal justice. Between the two there are many differences and some similarities; this could make it very difficult to debate if a homicide is organized or disorganized. In order to know how to classify one, you must know what each one is and their indivual characteristics. An organized offender is a very cautious intelligent person who plots out every action of their crime.…
Time Analysis of Your Weekly Schedule. One week has passed and I found it hard to stick my intended schedule. I was not able to achieve everything as I planned. Things which were not in my plan, suddenly appeared, and improvisation was the only choice I had. It took me lots of time to deal with, and I had to change my schedule constantly.…
How does technology change us, and is it bad In today’s modern society technology has become an important part of many people’s daily lives and unplugging is difficult. The problems that come with the oversaturation of technology and information have started to become apparent within today’s society. Humans are addicts for anything that seems good not knowing when to quit or how to self-moderate.…
When most community or neighborhood members are acquainted and on good terms with one another, a substantial portion of the adult population has the potential to influence each child. Modern Social disorganization theory is more complex than the classical theory. They linked structural aspects of neighborhoods (Poverty, Residential mobility, heterogeneity, and broken homes.) to a neighborhoods ability to institute social control (Interpersonal friendship networks, ability to monitor teens, and public organization) and found it a good predictor of criminal victimization. Placed an emphasis on how disorganization reduced social control and impacted other neighborhood aspects that also enhanced the amount of crime that occurred. This theory statistically speaking, those that grow up in poverty areas generally do not finish school and most likely have parent who did not either.…
Distracted By Everything is a documentary that I feel I can connect with. Being born in 1988 I grew up in one of the earliest forms of the world wide web. I grew up with dial up connection and America Online (AOL) so using technology and computers come natural to me. This documentary covers a lot of different platforms for using the internet like video games, tablets as well as different settings like classrooms and at home. I found a few interesting topics within this study that I can personally relate to and I can see myself using the information found in this study in my professional career.…
I really hate having disagreements within my marriage, and find that life is far too short to be at a constant disagreement with my husband. I got married for a purpose and I know it’s not to sit around and constantly bicker with him. Communications within a relationship can either make or break your relationship if you let it. I find that those that communicate well, most often have a successful relationship and those that withdraw from discussing issues, tend to fail, however, there are always a few exceptions.…
Silent Cry of Divorce They say that a marriage dies with a silent cry, not an explosion. But how can something that started with such overwhelming feelings end so quietly? Couples often cite a top reason for their divorce was because they were always fighting. But I believe a breakdown in communication is the top cause of divorces in the United States.…
In "Attention Deficit: the Brain Syndrome of Our Era" Richard Restak examines the brain 's ability to multitask and the consequences of multitasking. Restak states that our brains respond to all the technology around us such as television, movies, cell phones, e-mail, and the Internet. He claims that our brains are changing its organization and functions because of the modern world such as technology. The changes of the brain can be considered as both good and bad, but considering the future, I think the changes of the brain would not be for the better.…

The evolution of crime has dramatically altered since the ancient times, when people would kill for pride, position, and power or steal to be able to survive. Now days there are millions of more people on the planet who have a million more ways of going about their everyday lives, fulfilling their everyday needs. Humans are obviously not perfect beings, everyone does something wrong once time in their life, some more than others. . The more laws our society creates, the more lawbreakers there will be. Criminologists have been trying to find out what the driving force behind human nature for the temptation to commit crimes.…
