There are numerous people who suffer from some of the most painful diseases known to man. Chronic pain is a side effect of many common diseases; some pain can be completely eradicated, and others must be dealt with in the best way possible. The following list outlines information about some of the most painful diseases and how to help a loved one combat them:

1. Epidermolysis bullosa
Epidermolysis bullosa, or EB, is a very rare disease that causes the skin to become extremely fragile. This disease makes the skin so sensitive, that the slightest touch or amount of friction can cause blisters to appear on the body. Eating is also a challenge for patients with EB as the disease also causes food to have the same blistering effect on the throat. Unfortunately, EB severely decreases the life expectancy of its patients as most people with the disease do not live to see 30 years.

2. Peritonitis
Peritonitis is the inflammation of the membrane that lines the abdominal wall and most abdominal organs. This disease is an infection caused by a leakage in the abdominal, a hole in the intestines, or the effects of a ruptured appendix. The infection can be life-threatening if not treated in time. Symptoms include pain the abdominal area, bloating, nausea, fever, or the dysfunction of organs. Surgery is almost always required for the treatment of this infection.
