There are few people on earth who can lay claim to immunity from the emotional and negative causes or effects of jealousy. Jealousy is a poison; a feeling that often feeds on other feelings such as insecurity and low self-esteem. When you are overcome with jealousy it speaks more about who you are and how you feel about yourself – your sense of security or insecurity – than it speaks about the actions of your partner or someone else, whether based on fear or fact.

If you do not think that you deserve love and fidelity, the tendency would be to question every expression of those until you work yourself into a jealous frenzy. Do not be afraid to think back – to your childhood if need be – and figure out if there are any lingering feelings of rejection, abandonment and insecurity that might cause feelings of jealousy in you. Because often times it may have to do with something traced back to childhood days. As children or as teenagers some people did not feel loved or valued. The seed of insecurity or lack of self-esteem may have been sown way back early into childhood, and carried over into adulthood relationships.
