Cause-Effect

Improved Essays
When we began discussing ideas for our cause-effect essays, I immediately knew what I wanted to write. The past few years I have had to grow up a lot, and I always seem to get questioned about it. Acquaintances are always asking, “How did you turn into such a responsible young lady?” I wanted to explain the answer to that question through my essay. However, my essay was lacking. The introduction was ineffective, and my narrative caused very few to want to read it. Mechanically it was sound; I had only one comma splice in the whole paper. However, in hindsight, I see it as my weakest paper because of the content. If I were to do it all over again, I would choose a different topic. This cause-effect may just be too personal for me to write about

A good example of this was when the essay read, “We can’t be toddlers or teenagers forever, and there’s too much out there to experience to make me want to dwell too much in the past” (Allison, 2009, p. 28). This really woke something up in me after I read it. Yes, I along with other Freshmen might be scared to actually try and experience this new freedom that we have been thrust into. However, reading this sentence I feel almost ashamed that I’m not jumping at every opportunity to grow and change into the new person I want to be. This emotion was invoked in me by simply saying we can’t stay who we currently are forever.…

In Where the Wild Things Are, Max’s misbehavior caused his mother to send him off to bed without supper. Children must learn that for an action there is a reaction. Through learning about causal analysis, I’ve come to understand that basically you need to discover the root cause of why something happens and that actually can be quite distant from the original effect you’re discussing. I learned to develop a clear purpose when seeking to produce the causal analysis and what that meant to me it was that I needed to understand exactly what was being analyzed and its causes and effects of that event. I also learned of that there can be many main points when writing a cause and effect essay but for me I felt it was more helpful to keep my topic limited to three or four cause or effect supporting paragraphs, Simply so that I may stay more greatly focused on my objective. I had a lot of fun with this essay because I got to explore writing style that I had not really yet delve into in my educational career, and for me the challenge is always the biggest part of the…

This question has no definite answer, but hard circumstances pushed me as an individual to stand up for what I believed and break away from the standards and ingrained thinking of my parents. Making these decisions for the protection of myself was hard but it was also that kind of thinking and decision-making that pushed me into the adult world. I finally saw my parents as flawed human beings and challenged them to see me as an adult and listen to my voice in this situation. These events in my life were hard, but they molded me and strengthened my character to truly meet the world as a prepared…

In section 6 of Mental Causation by David Robb and John Heil (R&H), functionalism is framed in the context of the causal exclusion problem, and several solutions are provided in attempts to solve it, namely: the autonomy solution, the inheritance solution and the identity solution. I believe the first two solutions to fail in virtue of dependent overdetermination, and that the identity solution cannot maintain unitary properties, as opposed to what R&H suggest. Functionalism sees mental properties as multiply realizable, which means different causal profiles can lead to the same mental property. This is concluded from the intuition that there is no one physical state that can comprehensively cause every case of a mental property.…

In writing my paper for the Cause and Effect, Problem Solving essay, I came in contact with a few challenges of my own. One of my biggest problems was the time strain. With working at least twenty-five hours a week, a lot of time that I could be working on school is taken up. Another difficult task I encountered was the citations. In my previous years of high school, teachers only required the use of parenthetical citations; therefore, I was unfamiliar with all other types when writing this paper.…
