Ever hit your head during a game or after falling? After such an accident, you may have trouble with concentrating, forgetting stuff you learned, have headaches, feel dizzy or have difficulty with keeping your balance. If you have had any of these symptoms, you may have suffered a concussion, which must be taken seriously. Even the NFL has raised their awareness of concussions, a form of brain injury.

When recovering from a concussion, first, don't panic. Your brain will recover, but it is important that you give it an adequate time for healing. Essentially, a concussion will leave you with a slower computer. While healthier brains work normal, a concussion will act more like a computer from the 90s. To help your brain recover, you have to

If you are student, you will need to take a breaks from stressful schoolwork and tests. You should stay home from school until you feel well enough to return. You do not want to make the brain injury worse, which can last a lifetime. A note from your doctor can help the school to understand that you will need special treatment. You can also have a coach, your parents explain what happened, and why you need extra help.

Once your doctor has given you the okay, you can return to your normal routine. Nevertheless, you should still take it easy and not try everything at once. You will also want to avoid more concussions because after you have experienced one concussion, it becomes much easier to experience more concussions. The best way to recover from a concussion is to prevent having more. Having more than one concussion can lead to difficulties concentrating, memory problems and issues with thinking.

When participating in activities like biking, scooters, 4-wheeling and skiing, wear a helmet. You should also wear a helmet when horseback riding. However, there is a special type of helmet that you wear for horse riding. Before choosing a helmet, always make sure that it fits properly because if it is loose, it will not protect your
