Staying Together In Family Relationships

There are many things that can cause stress in a family. One thing that I found very interesting was how people will stay in a relationship that they don’t want to be in just for the sake of the children. There are many reasons as to why people will get out of a relationship such as infidelity, trust issues, money problems, and unhappiness and so on. There are not many reasons as to why a couple would stay together in a relationship that they don’t want any part of, except for one and that’s the children. Functionalist believe that families are an important social institution and that they play a key role in stabilizing society (Glezer, 1991). It has always been said that the children are our future. In order to have a positive society, as well as a stable one, children should be raised correctly. The best way to do this would be to have both parents in the home. Having both a mother and a father in a child’s life can teach them multiple things. For boys, the dad is supposed to teach them how to be a man when they grow up. For girls, the mother is supposed to treat them how to be a lady. I’ve seen it happen where, there was a single mom raising her son and he grew up to be gay. Possibly, if there was a father figure in his life, he could have taught him how to be a man and how to choose females over males. Another situation I’ve seen multiple times is when a single mom is raising her child while she is struggling. Young boys adore their mothers and would do anything to make them happy. Unfortunately, some women lose their kids to the streets because the young men feel as if they have to be the provider of the family since there’s no father figure to do it. They go out and sell drugs or rob people just to get money or food. Men are supposed to be the breadwinners for a family. For a child to feel as if they need to go to out and provide for a family just to make away, is ridiculous. This is another reason as to why parents should stay together for the kids. Crime rates could possibly decrease, being that children will grow up knowing what is right and what it wrong. The same thing goes for girls growing up. It’s hard for a little girl to grow up without her mother. Her dad can’t teach her everything she needs to know to prepare for the real world as a
