Liesel’s brother died.
After they buried him, Liesel stole the gravedigger’s handbook.
Liesel then arrived at Himmel Street to live with Hans and Rosa. She became friends with Rudy Stiener, her neighbor.
During Hitler’s birthday, the people were burning books. Liesel then stole a book that survived the fire.
She then found out that her mother left her for adoption because she was a communist.
Max arrived at their house, and they hid him because he was Jewish. Liesel visited Ilsa every day to give her the laundry and read books with her.
The Mayor found out about Liesel's visits and stopped them. Max got sick that he almost died. Liesel started stealing books from Ilsa to read them for Max.
Max left Himmel Street for the Hubermanns'
