Kevin Turner an N.F.L running back for the Philadelphia Eagles dies at the age of 46 because of the many concussions that he suffered in the N.F.L. Along with many others Kevin Turner had A.L.S. A.L.S is short for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis which is a disease that weakens muscles and impacts physical function. When Kevin Turner had A.L.S he had it to a point where he could not even write. Concussions and head trauma in football have become more documented and the documentation shows that concussions have become more and more common. A study showed high school players in 10,000 games and practices get about 11 concussions while in college the average player only gets 6. High School, College, and N.F.L football concussions are turning into a very common and high statistic.

The NFL used to have a policy that if a player had a concussion they would sign a paper saying that if anyone asked if they had a concussion they would have to say that they didn't have one. Many of the players that signed the papers would not miss any practice or any games. After their football career, many of them carried over suicidal thoughts, depression, and head problems. In a quote said by Nate Jackson a ex NFL player,” I’ve come to understand the priorities- protecting the shield from bad publicity- and so I don’t trust them.” He is saying that the NFL association is more focused on having good ratings/viewers than having the players be safe. The players that sign the contracts that prevents them from saying anything about their concussion are taking their own risk, they could have the chance not to sign the agreement. Even tho the players signed and agreed to the paper, all of them wish they could have gone back and not sign the contract, not play with the head injury, and not be ignore the fact that they have a concussion and they should say something about it and get it
