In 2014, the state of Kentucky experienced more than 53,500 crashes, which resulted in 169 fatalities and in excess of 14,000 injuries. All of these crashes occurred due to distracted driving.

The NHTSA states that when an individual texts while driving he/she looks away from the roadway for approximately 5 seconds. Traveling at 55 mph, distance traveled totals the length of a football field.
Texting while Driving is Illegal
On April 15, 2010, House Bill 415 banning texting for all drivers while a vehicle is in motion signed into law.
Drivers who are under the age of 18 are not permitted to use any kind of personal communication device while the automobile is moving. Although using a global positioning system (GPS) is permitted, information can only be entered manually into the GPS when the vehicle stops.
