According to bullyingstatistics.org, over fourteen percent of high school students have considered suicide, and almost seven percent have attempted it (Bullying and Suicide). There are many forms of bullying and all of them impact young lives. One specific type of bullying is cyberbullying. Bullying is becoming an increasing problem for adolescents, who have to deal with bullying in the real world and the virtual world, and far too many times, it can lead to suicide.

Bullying is a specific form of aggression, which others use to show their power or to influence a person in a negative way, and is often intentional and repeated. There are many types of bullying. The main three types include physical, verbal, and relational bullying. Physical bullying includes hitting, kicking, pushing, or other physical contact

The words people say or type can harm others, even if the person did not mean them in a harmful way.

Olweus has been trying to teach schools and children the impact their words can have on their peers. For some people, it is too late, but with learning and improving what we say or type to people can change our world and the lives of those around us.

With the Megan Meier foundation and Olweus taking part in educating youth on cyberbullying, youth around the country will begin to think before they type or say harmful things to others.
Both traditional bullying and cyberbullying can cause depression in youth. This depression can lead to other mental health problems. Suicide is never the answer to problems, but many teens look at suicide as an escape from the harmful words that are said to them on and offline. Although some people think bullying is just a part of growing up, bullying and cyberbullying can really hurt a person, physically, mentally, and emotionally.
