My topic expounds on the issues surrounding single-parents, the absence of fathers and its impact on children. It also points out the influence that the sheer presence of an on-going biological and residential social father has on children. The argument presented here is that fathers’ presence (versus fathers’ absence) facilitates an environment of expectations and achievements wherein his children will be biased toward attaining a high school diploma. Regardless of whether or not absent fathers can be engaged in treatment, they must be a subject of inquiry in the therapist work with children. There may be a relationship between a male’s presence and the teaching of discipline and socially suitable behaviors. Fathers bring something exclusive to the family, consequently making exceptional impacts to the life of a child. Fathers are distinctive in that they offer something different from mothers. The fact is, fathers make a gigantic and incomparable difference in the lives of their children in terms of education, income, abuse, mental and physical health, drug use, sexual activity, pregnancy and almost every other social statistic. Father involvement in schools is associated with the higher likelihood of a student getting mostly A's.
