it was not long ago in 2001 that the United States was attacked by a terrorists group consisting of nineteen Arab men. The men, who had been in the U.S. for some time, hijacked four commercial airplanes. Two of those airplanes were flown into the World Trade Center in New York City, New York. One hit the first of the Twin Towers, later another flew into the second Tower. Approximately 3,000 people, from a number of different countries, were killed. Many more were injured including the firemen and women, the police, and others. The United States had never been attacked by foreigners before September 11, 2001. The whole country was on alert and the look-out for more terrorists. People were scared that we would have a war on American soil. Everyone was looking at their Arab neighbors with different eyes. They wondered if Arab-Americans would rise up and kill more innocent people. That was fine with Americans until the Czar of Russia was murdered and Russia became a communist country. There was a “red scare” named for the communist who were called reds. People were afraid that the United States was under attack. Neighbors, especially those who were immigrants, were harassed and even run out of town in fear that they were going to take over America. The American way of life was under attack is what people thought. This red scare happens twice in the 1910 and in the 1920’s. There were a few bombs and violent protest by both sides. The whole country was uneasy and afraid. There was a ten year period that brought unrest to the United States. The Communist Party was banned as a politic party but not before some thought they were in the highest seats of the federal government. Spies were all over, some reports were true while others were made up to hurt people who were not
