Splash, splash, splash! That’s the sound of 342 chests full of tea going overboard into the Boston Harbor. The amount of tea thrown over would have costed a total of $1,700,000 over all. This problem, out of many, have been making many colonists very mad and irritated. They were done with the disagreements and many other problems. Due to taxes, battles, and the Continental Congresses, The Revolutionary War would begin.
To begin with, the taxes were very irritating. One example is the British taxing the Americans with the Tea Act. The Americans did not want to be taxed on tea and so they decided to dress up as Mohawk Indians and throw the tea into the Boston Harbor (as mentioned before.) Another example is the Stamp Act. The Stamp Act is an act that was made for taxing new newspapers, books, legal documents, ships cargo list, dice, and card games. The first Continental Congress was the very beginning of the Revolutionary War. It included the Coercive Acts which was made to punish the Americans after the Boston Tea Party. In the acts, the Boston Harbor was closed for trade, and the British were stationed in the colonists homes. The Continental Congress was a government formed by the colonist to fight against the British Tyranny. The Congress was a good idea. The idea was that the colonists would be treated equally, to reject the Coercive Acts and the Quebec Acts, to advise the first steps in the war, and to form militias. The other problem was the Second Continental Congress. The Second Continental Congress was made due to the beginning of the war, the First Continental Congress, the British’s new acts/policies, and the Battle Of Bunker Hill.
