What’s the hardest thing you’ve faced in life? A crucible according to Webster’s Dictionary is: a place or situation in which concentrated forces interact to cause or influence change or development. In The Crucible there are many trials or situation in which the town work together to rid their town of the evils of witchcraft. Although, the issue with this is that there are no witches. Everyone they are accusing are being accused on false pretenses and hanged on false pretenses. A Crucible is a situation that tries to change a problem that may or may not even be problem. In the crucible Judge Danforth could be seen as the president almost he makes all the big decisions. For example, who is guilty and who isn’t. On page 53 Danforth says, “Disrespect, indeed! --- It is disruption Mister. This is the highest court of the supreme government of this province, do you know it?” In this situation Danforth is talking to Hale who had an outburst in his court and disrupts the entire courtroom. Many who ready this quote most likely find Danforth is an awful person who should not be in a place of power. The truth is all Danforth is trying to do is save his town. When a candidate runs for office we see a small snapshot of the person and believe that we have the right to judge them for what kind of person they are no matter what their intentions are. It is unfair of us to do this. We are trying to force one person out the race for president as a collective group without knowing the true intentions of the person. In the Crucible a group of people go against Danforth to force him to their side without realizing that what he is attempting to do no matter how cruel it, in his mind is saving the town.
