The people are poor because there is no connection. In the ancient world, shepherds were outcasts like todays poor, but they were the first to know that the Son of God has entered our world. God works through the poor. Today, Pope Francis wants us to visit these geographical peripheries in places like Africa, South America, and Asia where there is extreme poverty. The role of the Church is to help people in geographical peripheries by donating food, water, and money. Saint Teresa of Calcutta was born on August 26, 1910 in Macedonia to a family who valued charity and were practicing Catholics. Teresa was taught from a very early age to help the poor because her mother would bring in the poor to her house every night for a meal. At the age of twelve, she felt a call to become a nun. This quote resonates with me because, I have experienced what kind words can do. Kind words can bring courage, strength and bravery to someone at their lowest point. Saying words like, “You can do it, I believe in you and you are awesome”, help to build a person up and will stick with them forever. Hearing words of encouragement like this have kept me here at DePauw and have kept me going when I wanted to quit.…

Source one is an image about the different beliefs of the church. The artist would be against the beliefs of the Roman Catholic Church but would be supporting Martin Luther’s beliefs of communion, Sola Scriptura and Fide, communion and the priesthood of all believers. The artist has a pro-Luther perspective because in the image it shows that believers who have a personal relationship with God is a faith that is real and will last and those whose faith is indulgence-based is simply not faith at all because there is no relationship at all. The image focuses on the idea that the church has not been spreading the true word of God. Since there are two sides to this image it shows that some believers are beginning to reform from the church and start…

There is always something before, something that inspired people, that challenged their thoughts and brought them to where they are. In Galatians 2:10, Paul tells us that he has been eager to remember the poor. In 2 Corinthians 8:9, he reminds us that Jesus became poor for our sakes. For Paul, there are no geographical restrictions for outreach to the poor, whether the poor in Jerusalem or within local congregations in Judea and the Greco-Roman world. Paul feels that all have the right to a fair share and that Christians should give according to their proportion to establish that equality. (2 Corinthians 8:12-15).…

Firstly, there are many examples of how the Church's Institutionalism offers opportunity to suppress or even be corrupted. For Example, the Churches was created so that "the fullness of power" stayed in control by "a ruling class" by basically taking it, (Dulles). As a Christian, I don't oppose the Catholic Church, but I do see a conflict of interest, in the richest most influential Christian representatives on earth who wear jewelry, and Gold head adornments worth millions, while we still have millions dying daily of a vast numbers of reason. Another contradiction arises with "The principal paradigm" which the Vatican II basically claim to be the new "People of God of the New Covenant," replacing previous chosen people and the Covenant offered…

The Church is always changing, and most of the time it is changing in a good way. The Catholic Church was very strict and had a certain way of doing things. Since then, the church has become more accepting and not as strict. The church still follows the basic structure of the early church and teaches most of the same teachings that were taught back then too. The model of the church that I most represent is the church as servant because I enjoy serving others and helping those that need help.…

According to the Gospel, we must welcome the stranger. Catholic Social Teaching requires Catholics to care for and stand in soldiery with immigrants, both authorized and unauthorized, including unaccompanied immigrant children, refugees and asylum-seekers, those unnecessarily detained, and victims of human trafficking. The Catholic Updated Guide to Faithful Citizenship, emphasizes that people have the right to freely migrate. The Catholic Bishops of the United States and Mexico acknowledge globalization, or the interconnectedness and dependence between different countries because of technology and social media, as a factor for the acceptance and tolerance for migration (Catholic Updated Guide to Faithful Citizenship 40-41). There are also other…

The main reasons people saw me this way was because wore glasses, was skinny, smart, and carried the weirdest backpack ever. It was a transparent Crayola backpack that made everyone tease me but even at that age I just didn’t care enough about what others thought of me since I loved that thing. My parents also raised me as a strong Christian/ catholic and they always told me to never fight or cause violence which made people tease me more. The first times I got teased, I always told the staff and they would help, but this made things worse since people labeled me as…
