Social media are websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking. Social media is not just one place it’s a network of many places on the internet that primary share information. People use it for many reasons some good some bad. It’s a place to share ideas and sometimes people turn it into a warzone. People use social media in many different ways, both good and bad, and through but negative aspects outweigh the positive. Catfishing is one of the worst ways to people can use social media. Mainly ugly people or fat person does it that has low self esteem. Catfishing is when you pose as another person on the internet to be accepted by others or just to get attention that you wouldn’t usually get from others. Cyber bullying is the use of electronic communication to bully a person, typically by sending messages of an intimidating or threatening nature. This mostly is towards people my age or younger. Older kids target younger kids or a group of people or friends gang up on one person and just say anything negative about the person to make them feel like less of a person. Sometimes it’s not even about the kid they are bullying they are just taking away the attention from themselves because they are not really friends they just know each other usernames. “We live in a time when friendship has become all and nothing at all”. (Deresiewicz, William) This transitioned over from real life to social media kids always get bullied in school but now online to by people they most likely don’t even know or are already bullying them in real life.
