It took myself approximately a day and a half to finish your book, whereas, if it had captured my interest, I most likely would have finished it within half a day. I decided to read it because it is deemed as one of the countless American classics. To question whether or not the novel is brilliant is rather an ambiguous question. Initially, I had anticipated the novel to have been an ultimate masterpiece. The reasons behind my grand expectations were simply due to the fact that numerous individuals had claimed it to have been an extraordinarily brilliant piece. As I continued reading, I had arrived at the realization that my expectations were failed to meet. While it is correct that the novel had portrayed and captured the idea of a teenage angst, the book had also lacked to display Holden Caulfield’s emotions to a certain extent. Despite the fact that the piece had lacked emotions to a degree, it had still managed to bring up certain emotions of mine. While it was clear Holden was depressed, the book could have been better written if his perspective on life was written more in depth, as well as how he had felt void of emotions. I was also dissatisfied with the dull tone of the book, however, I understand that the reason for that is most likely as it was meant to show how Holden had felt.
