The saying “you can catch more flies with honey” is my motto. I observed too many times that acting aggressively creates more problems than it solves. I usually try to avoid conflict, however, it is not always possible. I had a situation with one of my children, who was addicted to drugs and wanted sobriety desperately. Yet he did not take any steps toward this goal. I would give him suggestions and resources and he continued to ignore them. I could have acted aggressively and confronted him about all the resources I found and yet he did not follow through with them, I could have tried to scare him into getting help. Although I was passive for a while, I then chose to act assertively, because I wanted to keep a good relationship with

As Helen Keller once said, “Keep your face to the sunshine and you will not see a shadow.” This can also mean that the most effective way of getting through a crisis is to have a positive outlook, and not to focus on the negatives. In Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl — a series of journal entries that Anne Frank wrote while she and her family were hiding from the Nazi regime — Anne attempts to have a positive attitude no matter what the circumstances. She fought for her own life and for her loved ones’ lives, and her mental strength is one reason why she made it as long as she did. If she hadn’t looked on the bright side, despite her bleak situation, she would've never had the faith or will to survive.…

Some styles result in a lot of progress and building relationships and others result in very little. The most effective type of conflict resolution is compromising and the least effective is forcing. But the situation would not even be a conflict if the members of my family did not have different views. That’s fine, but what isn’t is when members of my family pre-judge us and think that when they come around us they will get the you are a horrible sinner and you will go to hell speech which is something that we would not force upon them like that. That is also one of the things we went over in class was that with conflicts you disagree with the ideas and behavior, not the people.…

Dakota Lowe Mrs. White 11 Sentence Paragraph 12, October, 2015 Paragraph Three strategies I use when dealing with people with whom I disagree. Firstly, I would try to ignore it or, get over it if I can but, sometimes that does not always work. For example, when I am really mad at my brother for messing with my things or destroying my room, I am mad at him but, at least I try not to resort to violence. Thus, I am getting over it or, ignoring him so I do not get in trouble. Secondly, I never move to physical contact such as, punching, kicking or throwing things.…

I went camping with my friends I saw a bee hive and started studying bees. Honey bees are much to busy to bother people or animals. All insects have six legs, three main body parts, a pair of antennae, compound eyes, jointed legs, and a hard exokeleton. The three main body parts are the head, thorax (middle part of the body) and abdomen (back part of the body). Honey bees are only about 3/4 of an inch long.…

Recent declines in honey bee populations and increasing demand for insect-pollinated crops raise concerns about pollinator shortages. Pesticide exposure and pathogens may interact to have strong negative effects on managed honey bee colonies. Such findings are of great concern given the large numbers and high levels of pesticides found in honey bee colonies. Thus it is crucial to determine how field-relevant combinations and loads of pesticides affect bee health. We collected pollen from bee hives in seven major crops to determine 1) what types of pesticides bees are exposed to when rented for pollination of various crops and 2) how field-relevant pesticide blends affect bees’ susceptibility to the gut parasite Nosema ceranae.…

Summary House flies are a general annoyance to homeowners and carry the potential for transmitting harmful pathogens. This report covers the method of using fly screens to prevent house flies from entering the house and becoming a pest. The outlined method for testing fly screens would be to place them in isolation with the exit being through a wire mesh with varying wire thickness and gaps. Pulling data from a similar experiment (Busvine, 1965), we can assume that 10 wires per linear inch combined with a wire thickness of 0.274 mm and gap of 2.17mm would stop all flies from entering the home. The investigated solution satisfies the constraints of ethics, environmental/ safety laws, functionality, practicality and affordability.…
