The Pros And Cons Of Catcalling

Only about three percent of women find catcalling flattering, but is that enough to convince you that catcalling is unexceptable? Probably not. While men find catcalling acceptable women don’t and guys, I can’t even begin to understand why you think it’s acceptable. There should be no argument about whether street harassment is acceptable or not because it isn’t. Catcalling isn’t a compliment, her clothing choice doesn’t indicate that she wants a compliment and no it isn’t your rite to express an opinion about her body. Who doesn’t want a compliment? Believe us when we tell you: most of us don’t. If we don’t find what you’re saying or doing flattering, it is not a compliment. It’s as simple as that.” It’s disrespectful, it’s disempowering, and its objectifying. Objectification is the action of degrading to the status of a mere object; and often times that is what catcalling can lead to. Catcalling feels threatening, not flattering and it does a lot of harm to our self-esteems. Overall, catcalling has more negative effects than it does positive effects and it is not acceptable. After finding out the truth about street harassment, you should feel less entitled to do so. Women are more than objects and we should not feel threatened by you at any time. I don’t believe you would feel flattered if it happened to you on a daily basis. As a man you would want more respect. Well, women want that
