Ideals
Catawba College is somewhere I hope to see myself in the next year. Some of the things that interest me about Catawba college is the atmosphere, friendliness, academic and extra circular opportunities that it has to offer. The school’s ideas of Scholarship, Character, Culture and Service truly apply to me. For the core value of scholarship, I strive for excellence everyday in the classroom. I am very persistent with any obstacle that challenges me inside and outside of school. A prime example of my persistence is my dedication to girl scouts. I have been a girl scout since I was a brownie and have successfully completed many achievements. I am now a senior girl scout working on my gold that will be completed before the end of this …show more content…
Also in my girl scout troop every year, during cookie season we always give cookies to the soldiers in war. I think that I can relate to each value, but culture is what I feel most applies to me . I have always loved to learn new things and have new experiences. I have always dreamed of traveling the world. In August of 2015, I had my first experience traveling outside the country and I absolutely loved it. I went to the Galapagos Islands and learned so much from my two week period of being there. I got to see amazing animals and meet very interesting people that I would have never encountered if I never would have ventured outside of my small home town Mooresville North Carolina. Seeing something in real life instead of a book or movie is a real eye opener. Many people do not get to see new cultures because of money or just have no interest in seeing new things. I feel very privileged that in my short lifetime I had the opportunity to go places and see things that most people will never get the chance to see in their lifetime. After going to Galapagos Island, I have realized that there is much more of the world. I am of Cuban and Irish decent and I hope to one day be able to visit Cuba and Ireland become more familiar
