They used all medical procedures available to them, but eventually they all failed. Their last hope to save the one they loved was to use their healing magic. Sadly, Titania’s powers were inoperative, “Indifference was the key to her magic; she could do nothing for someone she loved” (15). Titania was unable to save the boy due to her love for him. Once she gave into those feelings it was too late; they could not be retracted. She was forced to let him die solely because she loved him. It was the one thing that left her powerless. One of the more notable presents was the Beastie. Titania and Oberon gave the little boy the Beastie when he was very young. It was meant to comfort him and provide him with a form of companionship. It quickly became very attached to the boy, as it was meant to. At the end of the piece, the Beastie passes away, “Oberon who finally broke the silence, announcing from the back of the room that the Beastie had died of its grief” (9). The Beastie loved the little boy so deeply that it died because of it. The love for the boy had dragged it down and caused it to be feeble. Additionally, it had taken over the Beastie’s life and it could no longer survive without him. In the end, if the Beastie had not loved the little boy, then it would not have
