It’s 1958 Mississippi, where the white man stills holds more power than the blacks, (which is still modern day Mississippi). We meet our first main character named Brick Pollitt, played by Paul Newman. A former high school football star, he spends a night at his football field, trying to relive his glory days while getting completely wasted.
