The Background and It’s Background
Introduction
Discrimination was always led to violence and crimes against humanity since the beginning of time. There are many forms of discrimination that proves that from time to time people are always aligned to societal discrepancies and hierarchy of being that shows how people were not treated fairly and squarely. Society discriminates people in different ways. Like the White Man's burden where the white people has a more power compared to the people that has a black color of skin and this could be another form of discrimination, not just the gender but the races. Caste System is very popular and always attached to their culture as part of their practice and tradition. This system is a hierarchy of beings in the society where apart of specific role; Brahmans, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, and the Sutras. There is also what they called as “Untouchable” where there are all no identities and considered as the poorest among the said level of society. In addition, tracing back the human history, situated in the past has also the same situation in today's generation. But on the other hand, it’s not between two genders, but involves two and more which causes gender inequality.
Gender equality is one of the societal needs because of the different crimes and violence against gender preferences. There are a lot of things that people need focus on to contribution of success, not just in ourselves, but also in the society. But despite of the progress and changes of …show more content…
(Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, And Transgender) community suffered from different instances like workplace discrimination or harassment. Discrimination is always reflected such in a way that the workplace, schools and even the family and society are excluding these sectors. The Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity or SOGI Bill was built for societal freedom, educate and open the people on the different discriminatory practices that was enclosed in the Bill and freedom ; from all kinds of discriminations and to protect the members of the these community. Congresswoman Roman the Sexual Orientation or Gender Identity (SOGI) Equality Act, or House Bill 267, which the House of Representatives unanimously passed on September 20(Cano, 2017). Roman also lauded Buhay Rep. Lito Atienza, who is critical of proposals for a same sex union, for his “constructive collaboration.” (Cayabyab, 2017). The previous version of House Bill 51 was already approved at the committee level in the House of Representatives in the 16th Congress (Cayabyab, 2017). Creating laws and bills to protect the LGBT community supports the rights and freedom of these sectors of society, According to the DIWA representative, there is a "dire need" for a law protecting the rights of and giving equal opportunities to members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, And Transgender (LGBT) community
