The first way is the characters are very comparable in the two separate novels. Both, Cassia and Katnis, from The Hunger Games, have very strong personalities. In each novel, Cassia and Katnis take the main focus because they are both different than most of the people they live with. Both girls do not agree with the higher power and decisions that are being forced upon them. They scrutinize every move the government makes. Another thing I noticed about both characters is that they both have a younger sibling they would do anything for. Both, Xander and Liam, from The Hunger Games, are very wholesome friends to Cassia and Katnis. Xander is in love with Cassia, but she is in love with another man. This also happens to Liam who is in love with his best friend Katnis, but she is in love with Peeta. This brings me to my next point, which is that Peeta and Ky are both very comparable. Both guys start off in the book as almost complete strangers, than they start getting to know the main character and eventually fall in love her. Another connection I can make between the two novels is that the 2 societies (governments) are very related. The novel Matched says, “The Matching System has been constructed to allow those who Match to have their children near this age” (Condie 18). This shows one of the many powers society has over the people. In both novels, the government holds a tremendous amount of power over the people. In The Hunger Games, the government splits the country into districts. This is similar to Matched where the country is split into provinces. Both books share a theme that it is okay to be different than everyone around you. These two novels have similar structures, characters and
