CCSS has continued to expand their shelters and housing programs to a vast amount of individuals in need of their services. As a temporary shelter, CCSS is one of the only shelters that allows mothers to bring their sons to the shelter in order to keep the family together. Although CCSS has several different type of housing and shelters programs, two of the programs are exclusively for men who suffer with mental illness and HIV/AIDS. These operative goals are determined by the executive director and the board of directors. Multiply goals are addressed by executive director, executive committee, and board of directors (Cass Community Social Services , 2015). CCSS has not been displaced by their goals or mission, they have been successful with continuing to expand their programs and outreach services for the past three years. Since CCSS focuses on individuals having basic needs and self-reliance, there housing programs are long term. Individuals can live from ninety days-two years in particular housing. There is a large amount of diverse supportive staffing at the agency that includes minorities, women, and members from the LGBTA community. Cass hones on itself on volunteerism and welcomes five thousand volunteers a year. Although most volunteers are from upper class backgrounds, clients are different from them and sometimes this could lead to misunderstandings and miscommunication (Graff, 2006, p. 30). During my internship at CCSS, there is a vast majority of people of color that do not hold prominent positions within the organization, and this could be justifiable based on education and expertise in a non-profit organization. The supportive staff employed at this organization live in the inner city and this could be considered an asset to the agency because of the socioeconomic backgrounds.
