The themes of each story are different, but similar as well. In " The Cask of Amontillado" the character, Montresor and Fortunato are both friends, but Montresor sees Fortunato mare as an enemy because of the many ways Fortunato has injure-insulted-Montresor, so he seeks revenge by manipulating Fortunato. Montresor intoxicate Fortunato with wine because he knows how much Fortunato loves wine and would not turn it down. furthermore, Montresor takes Fortunato to his family's vault where he shows him all the wine he has and kills him there by chaining him up a wall and builds a brick around him, leaving Fortunato there to die. In the story "Shiloh" Leroy and Norma Jean are a married couple of sixteen years. Leroy worked as a truck driver and Mary jean works as a Rexall drugstore. Leroy injured his leg in a highway accident four months ago and has physical therapy, which makes Norma Jean build herself up. Ever since Leroy accident, he stays home and smokes pot, built homemade craft, and watches t.v. While Leroy and Norma Jean stay home, Leroy sees a change on the town and his wife . Leroy feels awkward when he's with his wife and he feels that one of them should mention the child that they lost. He read that most marriages fall apart due to losing a child. Norma Jean and Leroy both share the same guilt that affects them by losing their baby that dies from SIDS, because they feel if they had watched their baby instead of watching a double feature ( Dr.Strangelove and love come back) the baby would not be dead and it would not affect the marriage and Norma Jean would see a change on her
