Kindness, integrity, selflessness and strength are some of the hardest qualities to show off, especially in high school. Casey let these qualities shine through her personality. Casey is my role model because she exemplified these qualities at a young age and positively impacted multiple people's lives in the Pope High School community. I strive to impact my community in the same way Casey did. During my four years at Pope I have embodied Casey’s qualities of kindness, integrity, selflessness and strength amidst school, soccer and volunteering in the community …show more content…

Kindness is the building block to relationships with teachers, teammates and other peers and adults. During my first trip to must ministries kindness shined through my heart. Packing food boxes and sorting donation piles brought a smile to my face. In the middle of packing one of the 112 care packages full of food I realized how many individuals I have impacted due to my simple act of kindness. I could just feel the smiles on those families faces and that tickled me on the inside. This volunteering opportunity made me think about how Casey’s acts of kindness were trickling down into my …show more content…
I had to have the physical strength to be able to move hundreds of boxes of cans around, but the moral and mental strength was entirely more important. I used my mental strength to help my team to figure out quick and effective ways to organize, pack and label all the food and care packages that needed to be shipped off to the families in need. My moral strength was utilized to push my team to work at a quick and efficient pace. These two strengths pushed my team to succeed beyond what we were capable of and eventually we vanquished the record for most care packages completed in two

Audrey Hepburn once said “As you grow older you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself and the other for helping others.” I have been very fortunate to discover the incredible rewards of volunteering at a young age, and through engaging in the true gift of service I have committed myself to making a difference in my community through voluntarism. I have learned countless valuable skills through volunteering that I will continue to use for the rest of my life. One of the most amazing places to volunteer is the Little Light House. To Kill A Mockingbird and Places in the Heart were two different stories with one almost hidden meaning, a topic that interferes with all lives today. In both TKM and PITH, there is a reigning love of self for most of the stories, but in the end, the love of others overcomes and is victorious. With selfishness and racial prejudice being two main ideas that drive the stories along, it’s only fair to the reader or viewer that the strength of love and compassion wins. There is much conflict and pain along the way that makes these bittersweet endings just a little bit sweeter for the reader or viewer to contemplate and think over for themselves.…

It made me more aware of how observant children are and that they realized that they were not at the carnival just to play. Children’s perspectives are always so fascinating, and I love hearing about what they think. This is not the first time that I have volunteered with children, and it most certainly will not be the last. I also love helping others in any way possible, and by watching the children and allowing their parents to speak with Gaitley to express their concerns or desires made me feel like I was making an impact on someone else’s…
