Setting(s): Wish You Well takes place in New York during the 1940’s. After the car accident, the Cardinal’s move to a rural mountain community in Virginia to live with their great grandmother, Louisa Mae Cardinal. The community is relatively small, but it is very spread out. Louisa’s farm is quite far from the rest of the town. Another important location is the school where all of the children in the area would attend. All of the students were taught in a one-room school house. The waterfall and the well that Diamond showed to Lou and Oz are also very important locations.
