I live in a small town in Wilkes County, located in the foothills of North Carolina. Wilkes County has a rich history full of worldwide businesses such as Lowe’s Home Improvement and successful festivals like MerleFest and the Brushy Mountain Apple Festival. Sadly, the great heritage of Wilkes has been overshadowed in the better part of the last decade by job loss and drug abuse.
