"Why are you in LASO?" and "Isn't that club for Mexicans?" are the two questions I get asked frequently. At my school, Leo and Key service clubs have always been very popular with many prospects each year. Due to my school consisting of fifty-one percent Hispanics, I was particularly interested in the Hispanic and Latino culture. Thus, instead of trying out for the popular clubs, I decided to join the Latin American Student Organization (LASO). Being a Chinese male, I had trouble fitting in with the fellow members as I did not speak Spanish or have knowledge of their culture.
