With their focus on providing the highest quality and customer service, Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. exemplifies a company that is committed to continuous improvement. For example, Wegmans recognizes the value in good employees and invests around $7,000.00 to train each new employee. In the case where the employee received first degree burns, OSHA found that Wegmans failed to develop a procedure to lockout the steam valve along with failing to provide adequate hand and face protection for employees. Although these incidents occurred at one location, Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. should make corrective actions at all locations and provide safeguards and training to ensure these types of hazards are eliminated.

Technological innovation refers to the discovery and development of new or improved products, services, or processes for producing or providing them (Stevenson, 2015, pg. 244). A great example of the steps taken by Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. to improve the growing issue associated with inventory is the implementation RFID technology. The use of RFID technology eliminates errors and greatly speeds up the restocking process; therefore, improving supply chain management (Stevenson, 2015, pg. 675).
Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. would greatly benefit from the additional implementation of the Six Sigma Management concept. Six Sigma is a quality management tool that aims to improve the quality output and efficiency by identifying the probable defects in a given process and minimizing the variability output (Barjaktarovic & Jecmenica, 2011).
