Budget Director Carol Zemrock, county Administrator Patrick Herron and veteran Commissioner Ann Obrecht helped walk Amstutz and Commissioner Sue Smail through their first county budgets. However, Amstutz has had a lot of experience with budgets in his role as former chairman of the Finance Committee in the Ohio House of Representatives.
The budget anticipates $29.4 million will be available in revenue for the general fund. Of this amount, nearly $5.8 million is carry-over from 2016.
While there is projected to be $29.4 million in revenue, $2.5 million will be set aside and not encumbered. This will help the county have cash on hand to start 2018, Obrecht said.
