Walmart has been criticized for paying their employees low wages with almost no benefits. Health insurance has been a concern because it has not been provided two more than 60% of their employees. Even though there were improvements on their health care coverage new hires with only 30 hours a week we're not able to obtain healthcare coverage. Walmart provides employment to over a million employees and overtime they have been accused of safety violations to warehouse workers where groups have went on strike and walked for several days. One of the biggest blows to Walmart was uncovering a bribery scandal at Walmex. Millions was paid to obtain licensing and permits for a store location to speed up the process to open the store. Top leaders from Walmart turned an eye and covered this up knowing this was a serious ethical and legal violation.The essential elements and factors of this problem include individuals on the board stealing money, employees working in unsafe, employees receiving low wages, and minimum or non-existing benefits, concerning contracts between Walmart and suppliers, discrimination against opposite sex employees and lastly bribery scandals taking place in Mexico where executives …show more content…
The public has taken notice of how Walmart has conducted business and the public’s perception of Walmart isn’t good. Even though Walmart prices are very low, the stakeholders still have ethical formalism, they see how Walmart treats their employees and how they conduct business and no matter how low the prices are that will not change their views. Walmart has been taking steps to change how people view them. They have taken steps to recycle more for the environment and they have taken steps to lower the cost of fruit and healthy food for the people. Walmart has made great steps to make amends to the public and for those who they mistreated. They will continue to take the steps forward to conduct proper business
