The 225,785 sq. ft. building has been kept low for the past several months. It’s actually just a replacement for two schools being combined! The new Kemps Landing – Old Donation Center replacement has been under construction since the summer of 2014 and will start to serve gifted students in grades 2-8, as well as gifted art and dance students. It will be renamed as Old Donation School, but the actual program is called Brickell Academy. The construction company for this school is the McKenzie Construction Corporation. They will move into this new school building located at 4633 Honeygrove Road on Monday, April 3, 2017. This school has the spirit colors of Hunter Green, Navy Blue, and White. They call themselves the “Rising Tides”. …show more content…
There will be 1,375 students attending it. 450 students are from Old Donation Center, 750 students from Kemps Landing Magnet School, and 175 students from pullout programs. That’s not even the tip of the iceberg yet. It also features flexible learning spaces for greater learning capabilities. This will allow many more opportunities for learning and expand what’s possible in the classroom.. It also even has energy efficient geothermal heating and cooling system. This will help the sustainability efforts made by their middle school science classes. Energy efficiency is going to help with the bills for the school, as the cost of construction is $63,600,000. That’s not even all of the great features it
