Case Study: Under Paid Sick Leave

Keith Rogenski shared that the California School Board Association recommends that school districts adopt policy for temporary and substitute employees. AB1522 went into effect 7/1/15 and grants eligible employees, who are not provided sick leave under a collective bargaining agreement and work a specified amount of time each year sick leave.
Board members requested the following clarifications;
-Under Paid Sick Leave – “within a year” – define year
-Under Paid Sick Leave – “ A day of employment is defined as a day that a person is eligible to work” – change to “that a person has been assigned to work”
-Review 3 days = 24 hours with legal counsel as many of the employees do not work an 8 hour day.
