This case illustrates a situation where five transactions took place in a store during specific period. Thus, the matrix could be rewritten as following (1 for purchase, 0 for no purchase);

Case 1
Support is equal to the number of transactions where the customer bought (Chips and milk) divided by the total number of transactions, thus, support = 3/5 = 0.6
Confidence is equal to number of transactions where the customer bought (Chips and milk) divided by number of transaction where chips was bought and thus, confidence = 3/3 =1
Lift is equal to 0.6/[(3/5)*(5/5)]
