He had plotted her death at least a year before the attack.…
Crofton Maryland is a serene suburban town with a large population beautifully set up with a lot of green space. There are many little neighborhoods that have their own small playgrounds or parks. There are several shopping areas but the land is mostly dedicated to housing and schools. Crofton is quiet and peaceful most of the time, there is crime but it is generally nonviolent. Crofton is a beautiful and kind community that I am proud to say I grew up in.…
The “Liberty City Seven” case served as a prototype for these terrorism sting operations. There is always a vast divide between the information in the initial news reports and the eventual reports after the government discloses all of the details in court. The Liberty City Seven were a group of young black males from one of the Miami’s poorest areas, Liberty City. They were approached by an undercover FBI criminal informant, Abbas al-Saidi who began his career as a drug snitch at the age of 16 and then transitioned into terrorism stings. He recruited the group to blow up the Sears Tower by offering to pay them $50,000, but there was no evidence that they would actually carry out “the plot.”…

Harland Bartholomew is one of the original municipal planners that influenced the city planning profession from 1914 to present day. Bartholomew’s influence and notability in city planning has three distinct areas (Lovelace, 1993). These three areas include the education of planning professionals, civil service at both the city and national level, and his private practice and advancement of a systematic comprehensive plan (Lovelace, 1993). These three areas tell a story of an individual that had a profound impact on the city planning profession beginning from the start of his planning career in 1912 and still continues today (Lovelace, 1993). Harland Bartholomew was born in 1889 near Boston, Massachusetts and moved to Brooklyn, New York (Lovelace,…
Dr. Sullivan: I went to my interview with Dr. Helen Cox, and what she proposes for my internship is to develop a need assessment for the Porter Ranch Community. They are interested in surveying the residents of Porter Ranch to understand what they require to feel safe in their properties, what they feel is a risk to their health and the environment, especially after the Porter Ranch gas leak. The objective is to identify if the residents of Porter Ranch require services that CSUN can provide or coordinate.…

Then there’s the whole other race factor: Is concern over “income levels” and “demographic change” just gloss for an underlying assumption—that neighborhoods go south when white people move out and black people move in. If that isn’t enough to roil the revitalization waters, this emerging shift in neighborhood policy rings all kinds of alarm bells about gentrification and social engineering. Baltimore has avoided such prickly issues for the last decade with a community development approach under former Mayor Kurt Schmoke that favored the most decayed sectors in the city. Now, as Mayor Martin O’Malley’s administration begins formulating a new approach that gives greater consideration to neighborhoods that haven’t yet deteriorated those tricky issues threaten to surface. That has raised fears in some quarters of a polemical battle.…
Restrepo advised he was driving a security truck around the main entrance of the mall by the JC Penney parking lot and was stopped in the parking lot. (After the interview was concluded, Restrepo showed me on a map, where he was stopped. He was backed up against the bushes between the outer ring road of the mall and the parking lot, facing south. Restrepo said he was directly in line with Brandon Town Center Drive, that leads to Brandon Boulevard.) Restrepo said he looked in front of him and saw a silver Chevy Camaro coming from the west and about 20 feet in front of him, with limo tint windows, with a B/M wearing khaki pants and maybe a button up shirt, on the hood of the vehicle.…
