Radioactive waste disposal is an undoubtedly big issue with having uranium as an energy source. A nuclear power plant creates 20 metric tons of nuclear fuel every year which is an unhealthy amount of nuclear fuel and waste. The nuclear waste transfers high temperature and radiation to the area it’s being produced in, and they are both absolutely damaging to the environment and the living plants and animals that live there.
Nuclear Accidents is another large issue with using uranium as an energy source. Many accidents weren’t sensed before it happened. If it has happened many times before, what …show more content…
The nuclear power plants let the waste cool for an amount of time before combining it with glass and putting it away into gigantic cooled, solid structures. This avoids the possibility of the materials falling into the wrong hands (terrorist activities). It costs a lot of money to put together the plant, mine for uranium, transport the uranium to and from the facilities and to find a place to store it. The money could be invested for many other important things, rather than possibly ruining our environment more.
In conclusion, using uranium as an energy source is dangerous and unnecessary to the surrounding environment. It is expensive and is 100%, not the source people are looking for when looking for a safe new energy source. We at “Top Coal Australia” definitely believe that uranium is clearly not safe and that we should continue using coal as it has been trustworthy for thousands of
