This curriculum targets adult students enrolled in a Healthcare College. The goal behind this curriculum is to stimulate the medical assistant students to formulate their own opinions after confronting the topics in class, applying ethical principles resulting in ethical behaviors with the purpose of being better informed consumers, increasing their moral judgment on their personal life and workplace. Traditionally, Law and Ethics Module have been taught as a collection of concepts the student needs to memorize in order to pass a determined test. According to Rest (1988) as cited in Boss (2011) a traditional law and ethics course restricting the study of ethics to theory without performing any attempt to help the learner to be a better person, …show more content…
As suggested by Clark (1995) the model “may be defined as the systematic and iterative method for creating learning experience that develop and enhance skills and knowledge”.
Curriculum Analysis
The audience is composed by 25 adult students, with a variety of cultural origins; the age range goes from 19 to 46, as well the students educational and workplace backgrounds. 100 % of the students graduated from high school, but only 30 % of them currently have a full time job. The other 70 % relies on temporary jobs to fulfill economical needs.
The module of Law and Ethics is part of the curriculum for Medical Assistants, and it’s usually taught in the second module in conjunction with two other classes for weekday students and one class if its weekend schedule. The class is part of the medical assistant curriculum requirements, and law and ethics questions are frequently asked on the certification

After contacting the students they express their discomfort regarding this class. The high dropout of students on the second module cause financial crisis to the institution since the financial aid is not disbursed if the student does not complete the module. The desired situation is to implement a Law and Ethics module where the students feel welcomed and motivated to continue enrollment on campus gaining knowledge, behaving ethically and applying what was learned in their personal life and
