Curriculum Analysis
The audience is composed by 25 adult students, with a variety of cultural origins; the age range goes from 19 to 46, as well the students educational and workplace backgrounds. 100 % of the students graduated from high school, but only 30 % of them currently have a full time job. The other 70 % relies on temporary jobs to fulfill economical needs.
The module of Law and Ethics is part of the curriculum for Medical Assistants, and it’s usually taught in the second module in conjunction with two other classes for weekday students and one class if its weekend schedule. After contacting the students they express their discomfort regarding this class. The high dropout of students on the second module cause financial crisis to the institution since the financial aid is not disbursed if the student does not complete the module. The desired situation is to implement a Law and Ethics module where the students feel welcomed and motivated to continue enrollment on campus gaining knowledge, behaving ethically and applying what was learned in their personal life and
