Case Study Three Year-Old Richard Courtney

Thirty-three year-old Richard Courtney never knew that a habit he thought was happy would land him in the hospital. One day, Richard woke up with chest pain, and he could hardly breathe. He knew that something was wrong, so he went to the hospital.

When Richard arrived at the hospital, physicians hooked him up to the ventilator. Nurses questioned him about his lifestyle habits. Richard told the nurses that he had given up smoking cigarettes and switched to vaping. He is one of the millions of people who have tried to quit smoking cigarettes by switching to vaping.

Doctors discovered that the vaping had burned holes in Richard's lungs. He was leaking nicotine liquid into his lungs every time that he vaped. Richard is now willing to give up
