Leadership is an issue in this case as there is an evident gap in the style of leadership at 8SK and an effective leadership style. Grace needs to be aware of her personal work style and how this could affect her job and the people around her positively or negatively. Grace’s style conflicted with that of Landon’s. Landon seems to possess a more traditional form of workstyle. He is accustomed to following a strict method and each department or position should focus on just their task. He is of the believe that as a junior employee, you have to focus on your duties alone and you can not drive across such a thing especially being that it is the job of the IT department (MacMillan, 2015). For Landon to be persuaded and buy into Grace’s ideas, she has to understand his style of decision making. In regards to the five styles of decision making, Landon possesses the traits of a Skeptic. He has a strong personality, he is disagreeable and is straightforward. “To persuade a skeptic, you need as much credibility as you can garner” (Williams & Miller, 2002). Being that a skeptic tends to trust someone that they can relate with or is similar to them, Grace should present her ideas to Landon alongside someone that Landon trusts.
