Please provide a specific example of your participation in a group setting and what you viewed were the challenges and benefits to participating in this situation. During my first year of University I was given the opportunity to join Laurier Arts Scholars. Laurier Art Scholars is a community of high-achieving students who excel academically but also are encouraged to get involved in the many great opportunities offered at Laurier. Throughout the event they were monitoring and supervising the room. They gladly came when needed but they knew that the guidance they instill in us for the whole year or more, made us capable of handling this event ourselves. To be given this opportunity to share what I have leaned and to help others was truly rewarding. The dialect of this luncheon was very open and inviting. Conversation and discussion was certainly encouraged. This allowed my peers and I to bounce ideas of one another. As one shared an experience or answered a question, someone else thought of their own personal antidote or was able to expand on the answer of that question. Adding personal stories allowed us to connect more as a group of Laurie Art Scholars. It also allowed the future student to connect personally with us. For some of the event I was sitting at the history table. I remember being asked questions specific to my first year …show more content…
From traveling one is forced to step out of their comfort zone and experience something new. New ideas, culture, and ways of life. Traveling presents an opportunity to learn from experience. You learn about the lives of others regardless if you share a nation or different countries around the world. One may come to realize that there are universal similarities between the people you meet. You also gain a sense of history and geography about the places you visit. Travelling is more about just visiting a place, its about what you take away from it. I personally have not had many opportunities to travel inside of Canada but I hope to in the near future. I live on an Island in the middle of lake Huron called Manitoulin Island which is the largest freshwater island in the world. It is a popular destination for summer tourism and boating. This has presented me with occasions where I have met others mainly from different parts of Canada and the United States. As they compare Manitoulin to their hometowns, I get a sense of atmosphere of many places. I have had the opportunity to travel to Ottawa. Even though I never left the country, I still experienced something different and exciting. Ottawa is enriched with so much history. It is the

It always comes as a surprise to me when people comment on how there’s nothing to see as you drive through Saskatchewan. I can understand how different the scenery must be in contrast to mountainous backdrops or tropical landscapes, however I have always found the prairies to be uniquely beautiful, and I cannot grasp how others do not see that beauty as well. As I drive through southwest Saskatchewan, the world around me is full of magnificence. Despite popular belief, Saskatchewan is not a flat expanse of nothingness, rather it is a panorama of matchless flora and fauna. Whereas there are areas that are admittedly incredibly flat, the terrain varies as it melts into river hills, and there is a mix of farmland and native prairie grasses that serve to house countless wildlife and insects.…
