Well-known tour leader, Explore San Francisco, has just launched San Francisco's latest Cannabis tour. Laid out like a wine tasting tour, but instead of wine, cannabis is sampled, and local weed culture and its history are explored. San Francisco is where legal pot was born and the city has nurtured and protected hippies, activists and stoners for decades. This tour celebrates the authentic and non-corporate green-friendly vibe that is an integral part of the fabric of this city, promising to get you up close and personal to local heroes and into some legendary establishments. This tour doesn’t travel by bus, but instead, you enjoy a leisurely stroll through the very historic yet seriously hip Mission District, sampling as you go. The tour, aptly named San Francisco Cannabis Walking Tour is held Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 3 p.m. The meeting location is emailed to guests once reservations have been made. Michael Moran, owner of Explore SF, shared, “ This neighborhood is almost tailor-made for a cannabis walking tour, each block is fascinating in its own way and not only are there a large and growing number of marijuana-focused businesses, there are amazing and unique businesses throughout the neighborhood” He concluded with, “On a walking tour, you interact with the city and …show more content…
Besides these regular locations on the itinerary, where you will learn about vapes and concentrates and sample buds and edibles, the tour really takes advantage of traveling on-foot and experiencing the city. Moran mentioned, “ We have other neighborhoods and other routes in the works. We will be launching a Haight-Ashbury neighborhood Cannabis tour in a couple weeks.” The new tour will be announced on their website in the next few days,

Buying, selling, and using cannabis was likely as normal as a kid’s corner lemonade stand in bourgeois America. Today, for Clark, normalizing, indeed analyzing, legalizing, and standardizing, cannabis is his mission. Like many people who develop a resolute passion, Clark’s mission is rooted in personal experience. After receiving a Schwinn bicycle from his grandmother as a six-year-old, Clark became an avid bicyclist. Riding what he calls the two wheels of freedom that have carried him for fifty-six years, Clark went on to win many national and international bicycling tournaments, such as the Nike Master's World Games.…

Research shows that marijuana has proven medical benefits such as in the case United States v. Oakland Cannabis Buyers'(3) Co. The U.S. argued that it was the Oakland Cannabis Buyers’ Co that violated the Comprehensive Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Act of 1970 by distributing medical marijuana to ill patients with no other medicine allowing the type of relief presented. “In short, OCBC presented evidence that there is a class of people with serious medical conditions for whom the use of cannabis is necessary in order to treat or alleviate those conditions or their symptoms; who will suffer serious harm if they are denied cannabis; and for whom there is no legal alternative to cannabis for the effective treatment of their medical conditions…

Using various cases that show the positive effects of marijuana makes readers question why it isn’t more accepted and widely used. For example, Gupta uses a story about a young girl named Charlotte Figi that suffered from around 300 seizures a week. After trying medical marijuana, however, her seizures decreased to only two to three per month. Gupta claims that “it is irresponsible not to provide the best care we can as a medical community, care that could involve marijuana” (Gupta 38). Gupta shows the audience that if marijuana can help people, it doesn’t make sense to continue to treat it like a dangerous drug.…

As the War on Drugs escalated through the 80s and 90s, so did “broken windows” policing; a term referred to as a focus on common, low-level offense arrests. In New York City, where the strategy was born and still remains common today, police made only 800 Marijuana arrests in 1991, compared to nearly 60,000 arrests made less than 20 years later. In 2014 alone, United States law enforcement officers made over 700,000 arrests solely on Marijuana-related charges, according to data released by the FBI. 620,000 of those arrests were made for Marijuana possession alone.…

Social construction emphasizes the process through which concepts and beliefs about the world are formed (and reformed) and through which meanings are attached to things and events (2009). One thing that is socially constructed in both negative and positive ways in the United States is marijuana. As a whole, I think society is starting to become more open to the idea of legalizing marijuana. I think the upcoming generalizations are more open and accepting and that makes a huge difference in it as well.…
