Bradford, I really enjoyed reading your post because we have the same ideas about Thomas Peters. You gave a brief history of Peters’ work at the beginning and it made the post easier to follow. I agree that community policing ideas were based on concepts from Peters. I think more police departments would go to community policing if they just bothered to look at Peters’ work. After all, you can’t expect to correctly police a community without getting them involved. When they are involved in the process, the residents feel appreciated and their relationship with the officers is much better.
