The Alabama Women's Commission desired to understand the current social, economic, financial, emotional, and physical status of senior women in their state who was of the age of approximately 65 years or older. They wanted to better understand the issues facing this age population and best practices for serving the needs of these women. This would require the report to first identify those services available for to the identified population and address any perceptions surrounding these services. In addition, the desired research would seek to identify best practices for serving the needs of this growing population. These societal issues would be addressed by working with the identified agencies to ensure that these concerns are feasible
