Case Study: Texas A & M Bus Routes

Purpose

The purpose of my proposal is to study all the requirements, including number, cost, locations, and schedule of the route thirty-six Texas A&M bus along with the student tendencies of riding the busses, in order to find a more efficient and effective solution for the bus routes.

Summary

Mr. Travis Sutton, English professor at Texas A&M University, assigned students in Technical Business Writing to study possible solutions to a problem at ones workplace or school.

As a student who relies on the busses everyday in order to get to and from class, it is clear that there are not enough busses running for certain routes in order to accommodate the number of students that rely on the busses in their every day lives. With the number of students attending Texas

The busses are available from 7 a.m. to 12:30 a.m., which are times that work well with students pretty consistently. My focus will be on the bus route that I have had most experience with, route thirty-six.

I take route thirty-six everyday to get to campus from The Cottages. Getting to campus is not a problem for me because the cottages is the first stop in the mornings, but the last two stops get passed by more often than not because the bus gets too full. Not only does the crowding take away from the students that get passed up, but it also causes students to be late to their classes because of the time wasted trying to squeeze a ridiculous amount of people onto a bus. I now have to give myself an hour to get to class, which is abnormal for living an approximate 5 minutes from campus. Not only is getting to class on time an issue because of the buses, but getting home after a class is even more difficult. The line for the buses to get home on route thirty-six is constantly backed up after classes let out. Students typically have to wait for two buses to come, or pack into the bus and stand uncomfortably for their ride

Due to the negative impact our company has made to the local traffic, I have thoroughly analyzed our workforce's transportation methods and provided potential solutions. I've conducted an employee survey discussing employee carpool habits, public transportation, and telecommunication. Employee Carpool Habits In the following chart, I recorded how many employees carpool and divided the responses into four categories : Every day , Certain days , Randomly , Never . As shown in Figure 1, out of 43,500 employees, more than half the company "never" carpools.…

Dallas was late to build a municipal rail transport system, yet today its DART light rail system is the largest in the United States at a total system length of 85 miles. Troubled by a rocky start, the Dallas Area Rapid Transit authority was faced with the stubborn reluctance of voters to spend any taxpayer money on public transportation infrastructure. However, once the wheels of development started in motion, there was no chance of them stopping. Over the course of 30 years, Dallas went from having the bare minimum of public transportation to having a world-renowned commuter rail system that spans even beyond the boundaries of the city. The economic and spatial impact of the DART rail system is reminiscent of the electric streetcars — save…

The zip code 30114 is located in Cherokee County, a north metro Atlanta county which contains the cities of Woodstock, Canton, Ball Ground, Holly Springs and Waleska. The issue of suburban sprawl is the most pressing problem in the 30114 zip code. I choose this zip code as opposed to the zip code where I live 30064, because I'm constantly observing and critiquing sociological information where I live, so I choose to observe a different area from a sociological perspective. My boyfriend lives in this zip code so I am in the area frequently and observe the constant changes and problems that are occurring as this area is developing rapidly.…
