Presenting problem: Susana Rodriguez is a 16-year-old whose presenting problem is feeling suicidal. Susana has attempted to commit suicide in four different ways, one being with an exacto knife and the other three by trying to overdose on prescription pills. The client is dealing with an abundant amount of stress; she is responsible for taking care of her three younger siblings. Susana grandfather is the only person she is really attached too, however her grandfather is dealing with a medical condition that is forcing him to go back to Mexico. The client is severely worried for her grandfather. Susana was kicked of high school for possession of drugs. Susan’s boyfriend demanded for her to end her pregnancy, since the termination of her pregnancy her behavior has drastically changed. She often roams in the streets with her fellow drug addict friends. The client’s boyfriend has psychically beaten her and continues to do so. Her behavior is out of hand, at times she runs naked into the street like a lunatic. Susana’s out of control behavior seems to have begun after the termination of her pregnancy. The client also negatively influences her younger siblings; therefore her siblings are now experiencing with drugs.
Current situation: Susana is currently living with her parents and grandparents in a one-bedroom apartment in the dangerous city of Compton California. Sauna and her three siblings sleep in the kitchen due to limited space in the apartment. The client’s parents work seven days at week from sunrise to sunset. The parents do not have a healthy intimate relationship with Susana. Susana lacks parental guidance, which is negatively affecting her during this difficult time.
