Regardless of the type of project, project planners should be cognizant that there are internal and external factors that may, and often do, have an impact on all projects. One approach to successful planning is to first assess the surrounding to determine what technical, social, financial, and more importantly, legal issues that have to be considered before initiating a project (Ruwanpura, Ahmed, Kaba, & Mulvany, 2006). Even a project such as a fund-raiser to support a worthy cause can come with its share of extenuating circumstances that have to be addressed, if nothing more than upfront costs and the number of people required to effectively implement the project. The discussion will briefly address the students’ current situation, steps that could be taken to better assess the situation, and potential projects they could pursue to raise funds to support the foundation. Of the projects that will be identified, one of the projects will be recommended to help resolve the CFS group’s issue. An examination of the selected project will be conducted to address the benefits, as well as the risks, of this type of project as a fund-raising effort. In addition, any potential project risks that are identified will be supported by a proposed risk mitigation strategy. This is necessary to ensure that there is an all-encompassing CFS agreement with initiating a fund-raising project, or determine number of votes required to proceed. Once there is an agreement to proceed, the group can decide if it would be necessary that a representative from each fraternity/sorority participate in the fund-raising daily activity.
