SOUTHERN TIER (WENY) Last year the Southern Tier received nearly $80.8 million dollars in funding through the New York State Regional Economic Development Council initiative. As we get closer to the end of the year, WENY wanted to know if that money has been used and how.

As a way to boost economic growth throughout the state, Governor Andrew Cuomo created a funding program that would cover 20 percent of the cost of the project if you qualify. Last year the Southern Tier received nearly 81 million dollars through that initiative.

Through the Consolidated Funding Application (CFA) once a project is awarded funding, it has one year to get a start on the project. Once the project is complete, the applicant will be reimbursed the money they
